Waste Not Want Not, Is Upcycling The New Fashion?

Waste is an unavoidable part of the human experience and our material culture. Despite our efforts to use less material, the landfill sites will continue to fill up unless we find ways to reuse the things we already have. This means we have to get creative when it comes to repurposing things. The concept of reusing and repurposing is called ‘upcycling’.

We have all been doing our part for the planet through recycling our junk and rubbish for many years. This could be as simple as how we now separate out our waste into different coloured bins for collection, to using the appointed areas at rubbish tips for our general waste, electrical, cardboard and wood to name but a few. It does make a difference and so many products can now be broken down. Here at NuGen (Recycling?), 99% of our junk and house clearance items do not go to landfill. That takes a bit of focus on our part but you could say its also in our DNA as a business.

As we clear more and more homes of their unwanted junk, we have been finding that more people are looking for ways to upcycle items that have a higher meaning to them. For those not looking to repurpose junk themselves that’s where NuGen come in.

We have set up a number of expert upcycling partnerships, to ensure that your unwanted items not only find a new home but, with a bit of love, they can be brought back to life and used again. A great example of a transformation are these dining chairs, given a new lease of life by Kiddscrafts, using FrenchChic paint and pheasant fabric. These chairs would likely have ended up in landfill if another company had been chosen to carry out the house clearance or the owners had taken them to the local landfill dump. What a waste! Just look at them now!

There are many choices when it comes to choosing a business to clear your house, garage or office of unwanted junk. You can be assured that by choosing NuGen, all of your waste will be recycled correctly and ethically.
