Testimonials

  • What areas do you cover

We cover all of  Kelso and its surrounds

Kelso is a picturesque town in the country, located at the intersection of the rivers Tweed & Teviot.

Kelso has a lot of historical and architectural interest. David I granted permission in 1128 to monks to build an abbey on the other side of Roxburgh, his castle. This is an amazing piece of architecture, even in its broken state. The Roxburgh Castle once stood proudly to the west. It is now a grassy mound and deep ditch, with a few ruined walls. An exploding cannon killed James II during a siege at Roxburgh Castle in 1460.

The Kelso Square, which is large and spacious, claims to be the largest square in Scotland. The Bull Ring, which is a reminder of the past market days, can be found in its center. Many specialist shops can be found on the square. John Rennie's elegant five-arch bridge over the Tweed was built in 1803, and served as the model for London’s Waterloo Bridge.

Floors Castle is Scotland's largest inhabited home. It stands in a parkland with a view of the Tweed. It houses exceptional collections of furniture, paintings, porcelain, and tapestry.

It is home to the Border Union agricultural show and ram and horse sales as well as the Kelso Races and point-to-point, and the Scottish Championship dog show. Kelso Civic Week is held in summer and adopts many of the characteristics of the older Border Common Ridings.
